Choose the right category

Selling or trading goods through a vending stand or vehicle uses the Vendor’s Licence under V-200. A separate vendor licence is required for each operating stand or vehicle.

Automatic machines use the Automatic Vending Machine Licence under V-100, with one licence per machine. Do not assume a single general business licence covers multiple devices or selling locations.

Vendor applications

Use the Vendor Licence application and supply documents required by V-200. Submit by email to licenseapps@cbrm.ns.ca with payment to follow by mail, in person at Citizen Service Centre with payment, or by mail with payment.

The postal address is Vendor’s Licence, Planning and Development Department, CBRM, 320 Esplanade, Sydney NS B1P 7B9. Fees are in Schedule B of V-200. Ask 902-563-5070 or licenseapps@cbrm.ns.ca about the exact category and fee rather than inventing a flat price.

Automatic machine applications

Complete the machine application and supporting documents under V-100. Submit in person at Bylaw Enforcement, not by copying the staffed-vendor email route. Call 902-563-5091 first to confirm someone is available.

Machine fees are in Schedule A of V-100. Questions use bylawinfo@cbrm.ns.ca or 902-563-5091. The overview does not state an office address for that visit, so confirm it rather than directing applicants to an assumed counter.
